With the release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central v16 earlier this month, I was excited to identify the top improvements related to automation of accounting tasks. I soon realized that my favorites are not all about automation, but they are all about eliminating extra work and the associated headaches. Four new features in Business Central that are my favorite! Comment below with your favorites. I would love to know what you think!
It is now easier than ever to add documents and email addresses for document sending. If you didn’t already know, you can define by customer or vendor what document and whether to print or send via email. For example, we can print or send a standard or a custom report format to a vendor for a purchase order or customer for a sales order confirmation. The latest improvements make setup easier than ever by allowing you to automatically insert all reports from report selections with a single click of the mouse and select email addresses from your contact list. No more going to multiple sources or pages – everything is in one place!
We have been waiting on this one for a very long time and it is finally here! We can now receive more than the ordered quantity on purchase orders. How much more is based on the over-receive policy that you define. A company default, as well as a policy by item or vendor can be set. Be aware, if you are using approvals over-receiving can trigger a re-approval.
When running a report or other process such as batch posting, we will now see a progress window showing the number of rows processed. This window will also provide an option to cancel. If cancel is selected, the system will ask for confirmation.
Simple but powerful, we can now use search on the Role Explorer. All matches will be highlighted. For this one a picture is worth a thousand words (well, maybe only 13!).
